WHAT WAS ACHIEVED
In 2024, Yana Stepanenko's run as part of the Boston Marathon supported the fundraising campaign "Unbroken Yana Runs for a Defender," which funded a running prosthetic foot for Oleksandr Riasnyi. In 2025, Ivan Drozd completed full marathon distances in Boston and New York, while Yana Stepanenko ran 5 km as part of the Tokyo Marathon. UNBROKEN patients also took part in half-marathons in Kyiv, Rivne, and Lviv.
Sports-based recovery does not end with training at a rehabilitation center. For some participants, the next step is city races, half-marathons, and international marathons - an opportunity to test their physical abilities, set a new sporting goal, and return to major public events.
Patients and UNBROKEN ambassadors take part in races in Lviv, Rivne, and Kyiv, as well as world marathons in Tokyo, Boston, and New York. Their presence in mass-participation sports makes the participation of people after injuries and amputations more visible in sporting and public life and helps challenge assumptions about what is possible after injury
